There various sites in Guanacaste for hiking. The entire Guanacaste Mountain Range is comprise of 4 volcanoes that offer plenty of trails. Some even offer trails leading to waterfalls while some lead you to volcanic mud pots or calderas. The terrain is also varied. Local scientist say a notable increase in geothermal activity has increased at Rincon de la Vieja volcano in Guanacaste. Residents claim that ash covered their roofs and was also found in a 6km perimeter around the volcano. Ash, mud and fumerals have increase as well in the past year.
