Guanacaste is a tropical dry forest. This means there is limited vegetation, but plenty of trees that bloom while everything else is dry and brown. Lots of these trees have either a medicinal purpose or offer delicious fruit. We will list some examples of each category:
- Golden Shower Tree: It's golden flower resembles droplets of water. It has bean like stock which contains seeds used as a laxative.
- Stinky Toe: As the name implies, this fruit is foul smelling but to everyone's surprise, it has a slight similarity in taste to that of chocolate! This is also in the legume family and has stocks with seeds covered in a type of jam which is high in iron. Many locals will boil it, shells an all, in milk to drink.
