Local scientist say a notable increase in geothermal activity has increased at Rincon de la Vieja volcano in Guanacaste.
Residents claim that ash covered their roofs and was also found in a 6km perimeter around the volcano.
Ash, mud and fumerals have increase as well in the past year. Experts say that there is no danger and that most of the material falls into the crater.
Trips to certain areas are off limits, but hikes near the national park are still available.
